Job Title: CNC Punch Operator
Classification: Hourly/nonexempt
Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor
Work Schedule: 1st Shift — Monday-Thursday, 6am-4:30pm OR 2nd Shift — Monday-Thursday, 4:30pm-3am OR Weekend Shift — Friday-Sunday, 6:00am-6:30pm
Shift Premium: Additional $1.50 for each hour worked on 2nd shift
SUMMARY
The CNC Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Trumpf CNC laser equipment to produce high-quality parts that meet customer specifications. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth production flow, precision, and safety on the shop floor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Functions
- Set up and operate Trumpf CNC punch machines according to production schedules.
- Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate part fabrication.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform basic maintenance on punch equipment.
- Use measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, tapes, gauges) to verify part quality.
- Build punch tooling for jobs as needed.
- Safely unload and handle parts after cutting operations.
- Occasionally operate a forklift to move materials.
- Maintain productivity standards while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Follow all OSHA, company safety, and equipment maintenance procedures.
- Promote teamwork, positive communication, and adherence to company values.
- Follow all verbal and written instructions, as well as safety and quality protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience operating CNC punch equipment (Trumpf experience preferred).
- Familiarity with automation and CNC troubleshooting.
- Familiar with varying types of sheet metal (aluminum, galvanized, galvanneal, stainless, etc.).
- Ability to stand for 10–12 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to support team success across departments.
